Political Grief.

So the nightmare has begun.

We have a morally corrupted unprincipaled man in office with more power than ever. He has never cared for the NHS, he thinks that you should earn the money to pay for your own insurance and he will happily make money out of privatising as much of it as he can to his friends and cronies.

the hard working much suffering poorer classes seem to be be worn and fatigued and don't have the time  nor inclination to really dissect lies in policy making. Many of them admit to voting emotionally and even tell me that these Conservatives are well educated so they must know what is right, both socially and for the economy. They don't factor in that these people have a vested interested in keeping their wealth and increasing it, even at the expense of others.

I feel morally and principally outraged. I am experiencing another bout of political grief.

There is such a 'I don't care about others' mentality going on.

Politics seems the most lie ridden place I have ever encountered.

and the masses are too confused and exhausted and weary to put in the energy to finding a way to fight back.

the only consolation is that this country WILL go downhill (not a great consolation) but that it will be blamed on Boris and he can't do much about it, he will force a bad Brexit and he will be fine but the majority will suffer.

This is MY country we are talking about ruining. It is my home. And nearly half of the people who live here do not understand what they have agreed to nor do they realise they are being duped and lied to.

It is so tragic.

Election Day in the UK 2019

Tomorrow is election day here in the UK.  We have a chance to get out of the mess we are in.

Do I believe any party can really improve things?  Yes, I do believe that the Greens and the Labour Party have our best interests at heart. I am a member of the Labour Party. I also fear that the way parliaments works is so biased and full of power politics that I am not at all sure that any good will come out of any partys policies.

But tomorrow I shall vote Labour. I don't want Brexit. I don't want the billionaires to continue to make more and more money by using the poor and not caring about our society as a whole. I want a society where people can get free education, and free higher education, free health care and dental care and eye tests and also have a decent income when they lose their job or can't get a job. It is not that hard to do all that surely?  I also hope that we can save this planet, reverse climate change and stop having faith schools payed for by the government.

well fingers and toes crossed.

A trip to Addenbrooks Hospital, Cambridge.

Today I hung out with my beloved in the Stroke Ward of Addenbrooks Hospital.

He was admitted by ambulance yesterday with lack of balance, visual disturbances, tingling down his left hand side which then lost feeling and dizziness. He had been experiencing that for a few days. Of course we all feared a stroke or even a series TIA's. (transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a brief episode of neurological dysfunction caused by loss of blood flow (ischemia) in the brain, spinal cord, or retina, without tissue death (infarction). TIAs have the same underlying mechanism as ischemic strokes.)

The staff at Addenbrookes were unfailingly kind and courteous.  The two other men in his ward were old and not very responsive.  It reminded us both of my father in law's time in such a ward, hit by vascular dementia and eventually bumped off by pneumonia and possibly the Stepping Hill murderer. That was a difficult time. My dear husband looked slightly embarassed to be there but was unfailingly polite and courteous to all the staff, remembering each one by name whilst delivering small discourses on imaging and brain problems.

They gave him CT scans, MRI scans, X rays, blood tests, scans on his brain, his spine, his neck, and we were all flummoxed. As Bill is a mathematician who works on imaging, all these scans were like gifts to be examined and discussed and critiqued. We even found a notice pointing to a scan we didn't know about,  a DEXA scan which stands for dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. Ooooo, fascinating. It is used to scan bones so we had to pass on that one. Shame - it looked fun.

USA friends on Facebook commented that 24 hrs of intense investigation in A and E and consultant appointments would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the US. We proudly pointed out that our wonderful NHS is free at the point of entry

The only things we had to pay for was some vegan food as the hospital menu didn't have a vegan box to tick. Fortunately there was a food court in the depths of the hospital and I stocked up with healthy treats and I resisted buying Bill a cuddly toy with large eyes and a cute friendly expression.

After dishing out £16 for vegan food,  Bill was discharged with lots of rather nasty things ruled out: no stroke, no blocks or brain shadows or visible vascular problems, no TIA's. Maybe a strange sort of migraine?

Bill is still having symptoms. We ate in Churchill College tonight, too tired to cook for ourselves and rather astonished that the Tories haven't managed to charge us anything for our healthcare - yet.

Difficult Times

Only about two weeks to go before the election and it is easy to despair. The media is deliberately negative about Corbyn and people don't seem to have learned any kind of critical analysis. Personally, I feel horrified at what the Tories would do if they got in, but I know that many voters are not able to think critically and just believe whatever the press/media tells them. It was the same with the Brexit Referendum.

Why oh why can we not prosecute the press when it deliberately lies?  Why oh why can we not prosecute polititians when they deliberately lie?

I hope Corbyn will get in but I despair of the ability of the majority of the population to actually read, discern, research and sift through the deceptions and propaganda which would enable them to make a properly informed voting choice.

this is my account of what happened to me at a certain tibetan Buddhist institution
